Museums of Oglebay Institute

Since 1930, the non-profit Oglebay Institute has served as the cultural hub of Wheeling, West Virginia, providing countless opportunities for people to engage in creative pursuits and serving as a gathering place for all people to enjoy, appreciate and experience the arts and nature. Purchased by Colonel Earl W. Oglebay in 1900 as his summer retreat, the Mansion Museum features period antiques and depicts Wheeling's history from Pioneer times through the Victorian era. The Glass Museum features 3,000 examples of Wheeling glass and china made from 1820-1939, including the famous Sweeney Punch Bowl, the largest piece of cut glass in the world. Glassblowing demonstrations and workshops are also a highlight of the museum.
SCHEDULE:
February & March:
Mansion Museum 10am-5pm weekends only. April-November:
Mansion Museum Open 10am-5pm daily Glass Museum reopens around Nov. 8 and follows the same operating hours as the Mansion Museum.
ADMISSION:
$15 for both museums
$10 for a single museum.
Children 17 and under, accompanied by an adult, are free.
